President Message

I started teaching Art in school from 1962, at the same time conduct art workshops and enrichment programmes for primary, secondary, JC students, and for teachers as well. We must have the enthusiasm and passion to always enrich our skills and to share and teach, so that we can sustain the interest and spirit in our teaching profession.

I am very fortunate that I have chosen art as my main teaching subject. The best part is art is also my hobby and it is very therapeutic. I spend my whole life teaching art, and I am always keen to explore and experiment with different art forms. Taking part in overseas art exchange programmes, will help us upgrade our teaching skills and widen our horizon. In 2019, we organised an art exchange programme with artists from Chengdu in China. The exhibition was well received by the visitors. Last year 2020, because of Covid-19, we could not organise any overseas trip due to travel restriction.

Our teachers constantly attend local and overseas art courses to learn new ideas and techniques in their art process and development. This is to help us foster confidence and enthusiasm through our sense of achievement in art. Most importantly the knowledge and experience we learned will benefit our students in schools.

Art, as an aesthetics form, helps an individual develop emotionally. The process in producing a work of art can lead to the development of certain qualities both of heart and mind.

Finally, on behalf of our society, I would like to express my most sincere thanks to our Guest-of-Honour Ms Sim Ann for gracing the occasion. I would also like to thank our Adviser Dr Ho Kah Leong. I would also like to thank Lee Foundation for their contribution and kind support.
